Dashboard

The Dashboard is your railroad's control center.

From here you can quickly access:

  • Equipment
  • Industries
  • Waybills
  • Jobs
  • Operations

Use the Dashboard as your starting point when managing your railroad.

Equipment

The Equipment page is where you manage locomotives and rolling stock.

Equipment View

The Equipment View page displays:

  • Equipment information
  • Current location
  • Current track
  • Load status
  • Assigned waybill
  • Equipment photo

Car Cards

TrainTote automatically generates printable car cards for each piece of equipment.

Car cards can be printed individually or in batches.

Industries

Industries are locations that ship or receive freight.

Examples:

  • Grain Elevator
  • Lumber Yard
  • Team Track
  • Interchange
  • Fuel Dealer

Each industry can include:

  • Name
  • Industry Type
  • Location
  • Track Capacity
  • Notes
  • Industry Photo

Industry photos may also be uploaded and edited within TrainTote.

Waybills

Waybills tell cars where to go and what they are carrying.

A waybill contains:

  • Origin
  • Destination
  • Commodity
  • Load Status
  • Routing
  • Multiple Cycles

Multi-Cycle Waybills

TrainTote supports multi-cycle waybills.

Example:

Cycle 1:
Loaded lumber from Sawmill to Lumber Yard

Cycle 2:
Empty boxcar returned to Sawmill

Cycle 3:
Loaded lumber shipment

Cycle 4:
Empty return movement

When jobs are completed, TrainTote automatically advances the waybill to the next cycle.

Jobs

Jobs represent trains or switching assignments.

Examples:

  • North Local
  • South Local
  • Yard Job
  • Industrial Switcher

Jobs contain:

  • Assigned industries
  • Industry sequence
  • Assigned locomotives
  • Notes

Viewing a Job

The Job View page shows:

  • Assigned industries
  • Locomotives
  • Generate Switch List button

Switch Lists

Switch Lists are generated from active waybills and assigned industries.

The switch list tells operators:

Pick Up

Cars that need to be removed from an industry.

Set Out

Cars that need to be delivered to an industry.

Complete Job

After the operator finishes switching:

  1. Open the Switch List.
  2. Click Complete Job.

TrainTote automatically:

  • Moves equipment to the next location
  • Updates load status
  • Advances waybill cycles
  • Records operation history

Operations History

Operations History records all completed movements.

Each record stores:

  • Equipment moved
  • Previous location
  • New location
  • Previous load status
  • New load status
  • Previous cycle
  • New cycle
  • Job performed
  • Date and time

This creates a historical record of railroad operations.

Photos

TrainTote includes built-in photo tools.

Features include:

  • Upload
  • Crop
  • Rotate
  • Background removal
  • Save directly into the railroad database

No external photo editing software is required.

Demo Railroad

The demo railroad allows visitors to experience TrainTote without creating an account.

Each demo session creates a temporary railroad using sample data.

Changes made in the demo do not affect other users.
